Why send your team for PMP training?
Here’s a video I did a few years back that explains PMP certification. There are a few differences now, mainly that PMI has certificants get PDU’s post-PMP in three categories: Strategic, Technical, Leadership. Also, there are now ten Knowledge Areas, not nine. The newest one is stakeholder management. But this is still pretty accurate.
PMP/CAPM Exam Prep Class
Four-day class to prepare students for either the PMP or CAPM exams. (This is NOT a project fundamentals course. It is a capstone. The assumption is that candidates have been doing projects for several years.) Materials used are the Velociteach/All-In-One PMP Exam Prep Kit. Kit includes:
The material covers all the processes, inputs, tools, and outputs found in the Fifth edition of the PMBOK Guide and gives students insider secrets, test tricks, and tips,
Guarantee: If you fail the exam three times in one year, then I refund the student’s tuition. No questions asked. However, you will have to pay PMI for each re-take of the exam.
Cost – $1395/student. Payment must be made in advance.
Your responsibility – Buy a copy of the Project Management Body of Knowledge, (Fifth Edition) for each student. Cost is about $40 – 45. Best bet is to get it from Barnes and Noble or Amazon. Cheaper than PMI. I don’t expect students to read it beforehand but they should try to familiarize themselves with it by skimming through the chapters.
Refund policy – I know how it is at your work. On Friday your student is ready to come to class; by Monday you’ve had to send them overseas. If you let me know within 24 hours, I will refund that student’s minus the cost of the kit which I cannot return.
Class size – Minimum 5, maximum 15.
Class duration – Four days, M-TH, 8 am to 5 pm.
Location: Either a conference room at your site or a hotel nearby. The former saves you money; the latter is less distracting.
This class will provide the full 35 hours of project management education which are one of the pre-requisites of taking the exam.
The test is very hard, one of the most challenging your team will ever take. I know from many years experience of teaching this class that a lot of people have anxiety about tests. I’m a good teacher. But I’m not a psychologist. I’d rather you know what you’re getting into.

Here’s a link to the PMP Handbook. Read it first. It will answer a lot of your questions. Then call me or email me. Ditto on the CAPM Handbook.
